Terms & conditions
Last updated 12 August 2026
These terms apply when you board your dog with Dominic’s Doggie Den, and they match the boarding agreement you sign at drop-off. If anything here is unclear, call us on (816) 533-8011 before you book — we would rather talk it through than have you find out on the day.
Vaccinations
Every dog staying with us must be current on:
- Rabies — 1 year or 3 year
- Bordetella
- DHLPP preferred. We will also accept DAPPV or DAPPL.
Vaccination records must be uploaded at least one week before your booking, and must not expire during the stay. If proof cannot be confirmed a week beforehand we reserve the right to cancel the booking. You are welcome to reschedule once vaccination status is confirmed and if space is available.
Dogs registered at an address outside Missouri also need a Health Certificate, in line with Department of Agriculture policy.
Fleas and ticks
We ask that dogs are on a flea and tick preventative starting a week before boarding. Every dog is weighed and examined for fleas and ticks on arrival. If either is found, the dog is given a weight-appropriate Capstar tablet, bathed, and placed in isolation for a minimum of one hour — at the owner’s expense.
Booking and deposits
- A one-night deposit confirms the reservation and holds the spot.
- Cancel more than 72 hours ahead and your deposit is returned as a credit or a refund, whichever you prefer.
- Major holidays carry a +$10 per night surcharge. These dates book up first.
Drop-off and pickup
- Monday to Friday: 8:30–11:30am and 12:30–5:00pm.
- Saturday: 8:00am–12:00pm.
- Sunday: closed, with pickup only between 3:00 and 5:00pm.
- Pick up by 11:00am on your last day. After that, an additional full day is billed.
Food and belongings
Please bring your dog’s own food. We prefer it portioned into a zip-lock bag per feeding, unless your dog is staying longer than a week. You are welcome to bring anything else that will make your dog feel settled — toys, a bed, their own treats.
Every dog is given a clean bed at no charge. We cannot be responsible for personal items that are damaged, chewed or lost.
Feeding
We follow your feeding schedule. Tell us what it is at drop-off and we will keep to it.
Medication
We administer oral medication and drops at no extra charge. We do not give injections. Medication must arrive in its original labelled container with written instructions.
Illness and emergency veterinary care
Before you leave, we will ask what you would like us to do if your dog stops eating or becomes unwell. There are two 24-hour emergency veterinary practices within 30 minutes of the facility.
If your dog becomes seriously ill we will contact you at once. If we cannot reach you, or if your dog’s condition reasonably demands quick action, we may call the veterinarian you have named or, if none is named, a veterinarian of our choosing — and may take your dog to them, or administer medicine or other care, at our discretion and judgement. Reasonable expenses arising are to be paid promptly by the owner.
Kennel cough
Kennel cough is a complex of viruses and bacteria that travels through the air, much like the common cold in humans. We take every precaution we can: kennels are disinfected daily and all dogs are required to be current on vaccinations. The vaccine works like a flu vaccine — infection can still occur, but symptoms are typically less severe. Our staff are trained to watch for coughing, though sometimes it does not begin until after a dog has gone home. Any time your dog is around other dogs there is a risk of respiratory disease. Most cases are mild and self-limiting.
Group play and solo play
Group play runs weather permitting across four yards, capped at nine dogs each. Whether a particular dog joins in is at our discretion, based on temperament and how they get on with the others that day.
Dogs who are not spayed or neutered, or who need solo play time because of socialisation issues, are charged an additional $20 per day. This takes time away from the normal routine for the other dogs, and we limit how many such dogs we take at once.
Intact dogs and puppies
We are currently trialling boarding for intact dogs and puppies, in limited numbers. Call us before booking so we can talk it through.
Leaving the premises
Your dog will not be taken off the premises except with your consent.
Our care of your dog
We agree to exercise due and reasonable care, to keep the kennel premises sanitary and properly enclosed, to feed and water your dog properly and regularly, and to house them in clean, safe quarters.
Unpaid charges and dogs not collected
If charges for boarding, grooming, medicine or veterinary services are not paid within ten days of being due, or if a dog is not collected within ten days of the agreed return date, the dog will be taken to the nearest shelter, where they will be held for approximately ten days. After that period they may be sold publicly, privately or otherwise for the best price available. Written notice of any intended sale will be sent by registered mail to the owner at the address given on the boarding agreement, not less than ten days before that date, and no further notice will be given. Any amount over the charges owed will be given to the owner; any shortfall is due and payable immediately by the owner.
Liability
All pets are boarded or otherwise cared for by us and our staff without liability on our part for loss or damage from disease, death, running away, theft, fire, injury to persons, other pets or property caused by your pet, or other unavoidable causes, due diligence and care having been exercised.
Photographs
We photograph the dogs staying with us and send those photos to owners daily. We may also post them on our Facebook page. Let us know at drop-off if you would prefer your dog not be posted publicly.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri.
